IT STARTED WITH
Love for Music...
Experimenting with Sounds...
Do you know what Nygel Reiss, Vulture, Bamboo Lounge, Music Mafia, Joyrider, Starbuck, Freddy Lipstick, Liquid Red, The Junk Brother, and Johnny Glitter have in common? They are all the same person, and this person is me. Because my faces are many, but my passion is one – good music.
Who am I?
My real name is Yuri Wesseling, and I was born in the Netherlands. I am an artist, a musician, a producer, a traveler, a dreamer, and an achiever. I like to experiment and bring inspiring new patterns to life – I do it with lights and sounds, with music styles, with life goals.
I never settle. And I am here to make you a part of my journey
.
How did it all begin?
I was born in the ‘70s, and my first musical influence came straight from my family – my parents had a broad collection of records back then, going from classical to modern, and also everything in between.
By the fourth year of my life, I began my own experiments with music – I was using old tape recorders, and I was trying to make unique mixes with them. I found this endeavor to be highly captivating, and it became a vital part of my life ever since.
Later on, I was genuinely inspired by the early Chicago and Detroit house music of the ’80s, as well as by artists such as Depeche Mode, New Order, Mantronix, The Klinik, Front 242, A Split Second, etc.
At the age of 16, I started working as a light and sound engineer – that’s when I got my first sampler, and things gradually started becoming very, very real.

What happened next?
What happened next is a lifetime adventure that met me with amazing people and gave me the chance to dive into my passion.
After working as a light jockey in 1990, 1991 made me a DJ.
Meanwhile, I had started experimenting with computers and music hardware, created my own studio, and got things going professionally.
My first own release came along in 1993. Then the rest of the ’90s got me spinning between some considerable record labels from all around Europe, such as Bonzai Records (BE), Bellboy Records (UK), Under Pressure (BE), Ghoststyle, Trip-O-Matic Records (BE), N.E.W.S. (BE), Invasion, Byte Records, Cherrymoon Records, N.E.W.S. (BE), Invasion, Byte Records, Cherrymoon Records, and more.
Then it got even better…
My career in music-making and sound design took me to amazing places and gave me the chance to collaborate with fantastic fellow artists such as CJ Bolland, DJ Ghost, Monoroom, Pablo Bolivar, Q-Ic, etc.
My tracks began being widely recognized and included in various famous compilations from all over the globe. The first ones that happened to honor my work were Chris Cowie, Hook Recordings, and Work Recordings, while later on, I was introduced in mixes of I love Techno, Ministry of Sound, Seb Fontaine, Black Hole, and Tiesto.
I started my first own label Elastika Records in 2008, and ten years later, in 2018, I made another important step by creating the brand new Cooking Acid label.
